Qi Healing Description
Divided into two main parts, this book provides simple exercises for unlocking the body's health-giving and restorative powers, based upon the techniques of qigong and preventative medicine. The text is designed for novices, explaining the concepts and applications of qi power.
'On the Back' of Qi Healing
Qigong is a practical system for increasing one's physical and psychological well-being. The Yayama method outlined here consists of simple steps that readers can easily learn to do at home, without a teacher or any special equipment or facilities.
Qi Healing is unique among books on qigong for being written by a medical doctor. Author Toshihiko Yayama is a Japanese doctor equally well versed in Oriental and Western medicine, who considers both traditions to be necessary for deep healing of mind and body. Yayama has studied the Oriental meditative healing system of qigong since the earliest years of his medical career, and has gradually developed his own method of combining qi training with Western medical care.
Yayama originally came to qigong through his long study of Karate and other martial arts, and elements from these traditions are woven throughout the text. In a highly readable and accessible style, Yayama explains how to increase qi power, and so learn to heal yourself and others.
Greater qi power, he suggests, increases vitality, expands consciousness, and allows greater freedom from pain. It promotes well-being and prevents sickness; it can make the treatment of a particular illness more effective and speed recovery.
It allows for a completely new, more conscious and meditative way of life. For many years, Yayama has been using qi to help others in his capacity as a physi-cian. Qi Healing is the fruit of that experience.
The best doctor, the saying goes, is the one who seeks to become unnecessary, and that is what Yayama does here he sets out to provide lay people with the means to begin to heal themselves.
Toshihiko Yayama received his medical degree from Kyushu University in 1980 and is concurrently head of the Departments of Surgery and Oriental Medicine at Saga Kenritsu Byoin Koseikan. A specialist in immunology, he is well known for his efforts to integrate traditional Oriental medicine into the study and practice of Western medical care.
