The Spirit of Shaolin Description

'On the back' of The Spirit of Shaolin

Mastering other requires force; Mastering the self requires enlightenment - Lao Tzu

David Carradine, impelled by his kung fu master to write about the true nature of the martial arts, gives us a candid account of his path towards enlightenment and his initiation into the mysteries of the spirit of Shaolin Sharing the knowledge gained from his master Kam Yuen's years of study and teaching in the art of kung fu and Carradine's own training and studies for the role of Kwai Chang Caine in the Kung Fu television series, he explores the true teachings and philosophy behind the art of kung fu and its relevance to the modern world.

Through his Twelve Lessons and chapters on healing, nutrition, stance training, stretching, class, self-defence, meditation, and philosophy, Carradine fulfils the goal set out for him and gives generously from the spirit of Shaolin.

David Carradine, son of the famed actor/director John Carradine, had his first great success on Broadway as Inca King Atahualpa Capac in The Royal Hunt of the Sun. He has most recently appeared in Bird on a Wire. However, it is for his role in the TV series Kung Fu that he is best known. Perhaps no one in the world was more prepared than he to assume the role of Kwai Chang Caine the combination of his fascination with non-Western philosophy mixed with his love of dance throughout his youth and his experiences while in the US Army.

Yet everything he had done in life was in preparation for the role of Caine and for the start of his journey toward transcendence.

We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Evri - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
Fedex Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
  • Europe: 2-3 working days
  • USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
  • All other destinations: 4-7 working days.
