Chinese Spear Tassel Description

Pre modern times have seen spears exist at some point in almost every civilisation’s history, especially warring states. It’s a really simple weapon to manufacture and repair. The Chinese Kung Fu Spear is no exception to this and spears have existed in China for over a thousand years. Attached between the metal spear head and the wax wood staff is the Chinese Spear Tassel, also commonly called Horse hair. These days actual Horse Hair is very uncommon and synthetic nylon Horse Hair is the norm.

It's now decorative but in warring times would have been used to help stop blood from running down the shaft and making it all sticky. Gruesome but very practical.

At Enso Martial Arts Shop we now have one of the widest selection available with 6 different colours for sale, red is the standard colour, most widely seen, as it matches it's gruesome past, but other colours are much more popualr in China to help highlight different clubs and schools. They are perfect to match club colours, or even a particular outfit in a demonstration or competition. Pretty easy to change out if you want.

We can send your item(s) in the following ways:

Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.

Hermes - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.

UPS Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:

USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
