Solid Bronze Rope Dart Description

Records of these being use in China go back 1500 years, they are one of the longest range weapons, one, that is, you can retrieve easily once you’ve thrown it. Other weapons exist that are very similar, the Chinese Meteor Hammer, Flying Claw, all of which have very similar techniques with their own added flair. The Chinese Rope Dart ‘s specialty is the sharp point, which could pierce when thrusted out. It is known to be one of the more advantage Chinese Kung Fu Weapons and people tend to move into it after having practiced quite a few other Kung Fu weapons first.

We wanted to make a Rope Dart that stand above everything else out there on the market, bronze has a lot of significance in China and it is a metal that has been used for 1000's of years. Not only for tools and weapons but also for pots, vessels and ornaments. It's heavier than steel and much easier to work. Gifts would be given to people in high posotions of power, such as emperors made from Bronze and many martial arts weapons and training equipment would be made from bronze. Bronze when first worked comes out very shiny so we 'antiqued' it a bit with acid to make it darker and give it a worn in look. We not trying to claim its an antique but it does look amazing. Therefore, we thought, why not make a Solid Bronze Rope Dart. Nice and heavy and beautiful to look at. Perfect!

The Solid Bronze Rope Dart is over 11ft in length with a heavy bronze dart tied on one end, at the joint are some rings which are made from steel but have been antiqued to give an amazing burnt black look. We have also handmade a crimson coloured cloth, not only does it look amazing and goes very well with the dark tones of the dart and rings but also flies very well in the air. giving some air resistance for stability but not slowing the dart down.  Most of the techniques are based around preparing to throw out, throwing out and retrieving it back. This can be done from almost any part of the body but mainly the feet and hands, elbows and neck. There are also some techniques that involve locking and tying and opponent. A weapon that is so much fun to play with but also can be quite dangerous to take it easy and enjoy it
