- THIS IS A SECOND HAND BOOK -
You have only to pick up a newspaper to read of attacks made, not only on lonely commons, but also in built-up areas to understand the need for a knowledge of self-defence. Most people know and believe that judo holds the answer, but think that years of training are necessary.
If a high standard of judo proficiency is to be attained certainly much training is necessary, but this is not required to make self-defence effective.
Teach Yourself Self-Defence is intended mainly for those who have little or no knowledge of judo. More experienced judo people will find Part 2, which is written for them, useful and instructive. This book describes easy-to-learn tricks of self-defence used in actual attacks which have taken place, and which have been reported in Courts and newspapers. The attack is described, then methods by which the assault could have been averted, and the assailant held, are shown. Later in the book some methods are included for those who have studied some, even if only a little, judo. For those who wish to learn more about judo there is Teach Yourself Judo by the same author.
