Additional material is provided on sparring, the development of breaking techniques and how to prevent, or cope with, injury through correct warm-up and practice sessions. Greg McLatchie is a former consultant adviser to the martial arts commission, has a black belt in karate and runs a sports clinic in Hartlepool.

'On the Back' of Skill Karate

Skillful Karate gives a full account of basic karate techniques that are encountered by all students, from beginner to shodan. Starting with a brief explanation of personal equipment and dojo etiquette., Greg McLatchie outlines a number of exercises with help to assess fitness and increase flexibility, stamina and strength. He discusses which parts of the body may be used as natural weapons and describes stances, blocks, punches kicks and sweeps, paying particular attention to safety and injury prevention. Other sections include a wealth of advice on sparring, kata, competition techniques and tactics. breaking techniques, and methods of self defence.

The author, former Consultant Advisor to the Martial Arts Commission, is a 1st Dan in karate and a Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon. He also runs a sports clinic in Hartlepool.

We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Evri - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
Fedex Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
  • Europe: 2-3 working days
  • USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
  • All other destinations: 4-7 working days.
