Black Oak Bokken Description
These Black Oak Bokken are called this because they are black coloured are mainly used by Ninjutsu practitioners but are perfectly suited for many Japanese Martial Arts styles. Rather than being made from Black Oak, which is a very rare and expensive wood, they are painted black. This means it is possibel to own a black coloured Bokken without having to have one custom made at great expense. People love them for the colour they are very tough and durable as they are made from Red Oak wood, like so many Japanese and Chinese training weapons.
Mostly people will use these for solo practice drills but they are very suitable for partner work and sparring practice too. They also are perfect for practicing defences against attacks with a bokken in styles such as Ju Jitsu, Ninjitsu and Aikido. They are the standard katana length of 42 inches, so when you are ready you have the experience of training with that length before you move onto a real katana. Each individual wooden bokken has it own feel. In an ideal world, you would want to get your hands on a few a choose from the selection. This way you can find a bokken you love and is perfect for your needs. Come into the shop if you are nearby and try them all out.
Either way you'll be buying a good solid, reliable training bokken suitable for most Japanese Martial Arts and one that if you look after it will last you a lifetime. They fit out Plastic saya for bokken we have at Enso Martial Arts so if you want to practice your drawing it is well worth getting an inexpensive saya too. Comes with a plastic tsuba, thats comes in black.
Advice from the shop on Black Oak Bokken
“These are just as good as the Red Oak Bokken and White Oak Bokken, but only the Ninjutsu styles tend to use them. Check with your instructor first if this is the right bokken for you."

Shipping your Black Oak Bokken
We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked- Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Hermes- In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
UPS Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
Europe: 2-3 working days
USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
The black oak bokken is an incredible training weapon for martial artists to use. The structure is strong and the wood is very durable, this will last you very long. It is 101cm so I recommend 13+ to use this as it may be to heavy (586g) for younger kids. I’m very pleased with this, it is exactly what I wanted and more.
