For Every woman - Any age and fitness no specialized training necessary for women by a woman
In these days of ever-increasing violence, self defence has become a necessary part of survival.
Various Oriental martial arts offer instruction in self defence in their particular way in many different places throughout the country. Although quite effective, in order to be of use they require many hours of regular hard training spread over months or years. Many people find that the intensive training required would take too much time or energy, or both. Because of this some people do not bother to prepare themselves at all; others merely nibble at a given art forgetting that with the best of intentions a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
I have written this book for all women. As a woman who has been in various situations I have observed that in most cases the attack on a woman is vastly different from usual acts of violence.
The method of dealing with such situations must of necessity differ greatly from set defences prescribed by any sport practised by both sexes.
You must apply the most effective and nearest weapon to the most available vulnerable point of your enemy. One has to consider the fact that any woman's body is generally physically weaker than that of any male. Females are usually more easily subdued because they panic and attempt to use their feeble strength against a man. Only skill can be successful against a stronger opponent.
Keeping this in mind I have described the most reasonable defences against set attacks which are based upon various techniques adapted from Atemi-Jitsu, Kung Fu, Ju-Jitsu and Judo.
