Judo Uchikomi Band Description

The word Uchikomi is a term borrowed from Kendo, and is used in Judo to refer to the repeated practice of a throwing motion up to the point where the throw would actually be executed, if the throw gets done the simulation stops at that point. The Judo Uchikomi Bands have been around for years as a means of helping improving the technical throwing ability of any Judoka. Practitioners of any wrestling martial arts including Sambo and BJJ would also benefit from training with these.

Like any other resistance band, this Judo Uchikomi Band create resistance in a gradual manner, starting off with little resistance and the more they stretch the more resistance. This is similar to throwing an opponent. Unlike most resistance bands these are thick and long so can be used within a Judo setting. Therefore you can simulate the action of throwing someone without having to throw them. The throwing motion can be practiced over and over, and the Judoka can build strength and technique wihtout the need of a training partner.

Just gripping the Judo Uchikomi band under tension will help improve grip strength and using Judo specific technique will help you build strenght in all the right places, specific to Judo. Made from heavyweight Judo gi material, the Judo Uchikomi band has 27cm hand grips, and have 132cm of elasticity on each side with a 31cm centre strap. In Total these are 349cm in length
