A great entry level suit, this black karate Gi is suitable for some classes of karate and beginners in Ninjutsu, also as under Gi’s of Japanese Sword styles
These Black Karate Gi are made from a lightweight 7oz canvas material, and although called a Karate Gi is mainly used by Ninjutsu schools these days. Some Karate schools still use them and some Kenpo Karate, also some people from Japanese sword arts such as Kenjitsu, Kendo and Iaido, but in the main it is Ninjutsu that are the majority of people buying the Black Karate Gi. As it is a lightweight Karate Gi it may not fully stand up to the punishment a full Ninjutsu practitioner will inflict upon it, so they are very suitable for beginners and definitely kids. As kids gi's they are perfect. However, as an adult progresses through Ninjutsu they may want to upgrade at some point to a heavyweight karate gi or Black Judo Gi as it will withstand the training to a greater degree
The complete suit comes with The Gi top, elasticated drawstring trousers and a white belt. You get the white belt as it assumes you are new to Ninjutsu and almost all clubs will start you on a white belt. The Gi and trousers are made from a 65% polyester 35% cotton mix, which has become the standard for lightweight karate gi these days, due to cotton shortages and therefore cotton costs. if you require a 100% cotton gi you'll be better going for one of our heavyweight karate gi's. Even though it has polyester it in, it still retains the very natural comfortable feel and most people cannot tell the difference between the mix and the 100% cotton gi's.
This Black Karate Gi will fade over time, it's sort of the sign of the amount of time you've trained for, however you can retain the blackness by washing it with a colour / black protector detergent, keeping it on a cold or coldish wash and keeping it out of direct sunlight. They are a great entry level gi and give you a good taste for the martial arts you going into.

The Black Karate Gi sizes are based on height of the person. For instance a 3/160 is based on someone of a average build who is 160cm in height. You will get a bit of shrinkage from the polycotton mix but nowhere near as much than the 100% cotton varieties. Here are the sizes available of the Black Karate Gi:
