This little book was dedicated to the Home Guard, not generally but personally. To all the over-age, the under-age, the medically unfit, the sick
Originally published in 1942 “Combat Without Weapons” is a book written with two objectives in mind, brevity and simplicity. Written specifically for the average people during wartime, this little book presents what many consider complex techniques boiled down to its simplest form for self-defence purposes. The attempt here is not to make specialists out of average people, but simply to teach a few simple tricks that everyone can learn in a matter of minutes, that will make you more efficient at self-defence.The text is clear and straight-forward, and the 63 photographic illustrations make misunderstanding impossible. It is a book to be possessed by all who are interested in self-defence.In the author’s own words:“This little book was dedicated to the Home Guard . . . . . to all the over-age, the underage, the medically unfit, the sick, the lame and the blind. Its keynote is simplicity, and it is prepared solely for ordinary people, not for Commandos or professional wrestlers.”
This little book was dedicated to the Home Guard, not generally but personally. To all the over-age, the under-age, the medically unfit, the sick, the lame and the blind. Its keynote is simplicity, and it is prepared solely for ordinary people, not for Commandos or professional wrestlers. Since "Combat Without Weapons" appeared I have been accused of being everything from just an ordinary thug to a downright sadist. I am neither: I have a real and genuine love for people and a very great love for living; 1 simply happen to believe that a knowledge of self-defence is a sound invest-ment.
