Red Oak Hanbo Staff Description

The Red Oak Hanbo Staff is the perfect length of locking, trapping, throwing, striking, blocking work in Traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu and Ninjutsu styles. These tough staffs are made from red oak, a super tough, resilient wood.  If you take care of your Hanbo, your wepaon will last you for ages and you shouldn't ever need to buy another one. Red Oak is used for a lot of Japanese training weapons for this reason, it's fairly cheap and super durable and perfect combination. These are a really tough weapon and will stand up to some abuse, but don’t forget it is wood. Wood can break so a real hammering could end up with a broken stick. Look after your staff and it will last you for years.

Mainly used by Japanese Ju Jitsu and Ninjutsu styles this is a super versatile weapon and can be used for all kinds of martial application. It sits somewhere  between the Filpino escrima stick and a Japanese Jo Staff and is able to be utilised in both ways. You love training with them and enjoy learning the techniques.  These weapons are quite niche and not many people ever get to use or train with a Red Oak Hanbo Staff. It's a real shame as these weapons have such a broad spectrum of techniques that can be trained.

Made in the standard Hanbo Staff length of 3ft / 36 inches / 91cm. You can also buy the Jo Staff Case to store and carry it in.

Advice from the shop on Red Oak Hanbo Staff

"If you really want to have the best possible staff, take some sandpaper to the varnish and give it a few coats of linseed oil.  It’ll make a massive difference to the feel of the staff."

Doug Swift - Owner of Enso Martial Arts Shop

Shipping your Red Oak Hanbo Staff

We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Hermes - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
UPS Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
  • Europe: 2-3 working days
  • USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
  • All other destinations: 4-7 working days.

The website, customer service, and delivery were all absolutely great, but the hanbo itself is even better. I recently bought a bo from Enso, and the quality is also absolutely first class. Many thanks!
