Initial thoughts may lean towards this not being a very good sword to practice with. I think you’d be pleasantly surprised with this Telescopic Tai Chi Sword. It has pretty good balance and enough weight to give you a good feel in your hands. The beauty of this Telescopic Tai Chi Sword is that is a collapsible so you can carry it unnoticed in you bag or even just in your hand. This means you can get to class or training without lugging a full length sword around. When finished, with a quick nudge, it will fully collapse back to it’s packing size.
Made from a lightweight sprung steel, which collapses down neatly inside itself, It gives the sword a bit of weight when training, so you get some feedback during practice. The telescopic Tai Chi sword slides out effortlessly and grips very well when practicing your forms. The handle is made out of a tough plastic, so it is fairly durable. However, this is purely so solo practice and won't withstand any partner practice at all.
At full length the Telescopic Tai Chi Sword is extendable to 37 inches or 94 cm. and it is collapsible to 10.25 inches or 26 cm. It comes with an end cap to hold the sword in it’s collapsible position. A great design for someone who travels a lot or doesn't want to be seen carrying round a full length Tai Chi Straight sword. Good design and super useful.
“These are slightly different to the ones in the video, the handle is plastic not metal because of this they are slightly cheaper too. Still very usable and durable“

Decent piece of kit, the weight is good and is balanced. It's good that the sword can be transported in my training bag to the club whilst retracted.<br />
If I have a slight reservation is that there is a hardly noticeable give in the sword when moving too quickly, however, this should not be an issue, it is a Tai chi sword after all.
Ordered this and got it in the mail today. I'm not disappointed. Came back to say it's a great product, simply for show, practice, and appearance. It's very lightweight, so I wouldn't recommend it at all for self-defense, but... Hey... It'll definitely impress your friends. How often do they see collapsible swords, right? The hilt and blade are all perfectly sized, and yet it somehow remain compact. I've been carrying this thing on me all day. A very fine addition to my collection.
