Judo for Juniors Description
Designed to introduce judo to children aged 10-13, the purpose being to speak directly to the children themselves in a lightly informative way. The emphasis is upon the practical aspects of judo - the kit, grading and etiquette, breakfalls and gymnastics, the throws, combinations and ground work. As well as this, the importance of training, practice, rules and scoring are highlighted. Judo games, the main Japanese terms used and a history of the sport are included, along with a portrait of Neil Adams and Karen Briggs.
'On the back' of Judo for Juniors
Combining speed, balance, timing and technique, judo is an exciting sport for boys and girls of all ages. Judo for Juniors, written by judo teacher and writer Nicolas Soames, takes the beginner through the first crucial steps towards black belt.
After showing how to fall without injury, the author introduces most of the popular throws that make judo so spectacular. The main groundwork holds are also demonstrated, and competition rules and grading systems explained. There is even a chapter on Japan, where judo originated, and the Japanese.
Lavishly illustrated with technical photographs as well as competition shots of the champions, Judo for Juniors is not only practical, but informal and fun.
