Risuke Otake was born at the Katori district in Chiba prefecture in 1926.
From the age of sixteen years he learned the Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu bujutsu (martial arts) from
Shihan (Master-teacher) Hayashi Yazaemon.
In 1960, the Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu was designated as an intangible cultural property in Japan.
When Otake Sensei was 42 years old, he received the Gokui Kaiden (All secred principles of the Tenshin Shoden) and became the current Shihan of the Katori Shinto Ryu. He teaches and lives at Narita city in Chiba pre-fecture, Japan.
