Cheng Hsin Description

Every once in a while you find a high impact book. Something that awakens something deep within and lasts forever. This is the one. It is a book that you can pick up time and time again and always gets something new out of it, or something deeper than you. Cheng Hsin is the best introduction for beginners to the internal practice of fighting. It is a seminal work that draws on T'ai Chi Ch'uan, Aikido, and Pa Kua Chang and was written by the first Westerner ever to win the world championship in a full-contact martial arts tournament.

'On the Back' of Cheng Hsin

Though born in San Francisco, Peter Ralston began studying martial arts at teh age of nine in Singapore. Whilst still a teen0ager he earned a Shodan (1st degree black belt) in Judo, Jujitsu (Goshin Jitsu No Kata) and Karate (Shotokan), and was Sumo Champion at his high school in Japan. An extraordinary well-rounded martial artist, he studied Kempo and Ch'uan Fa Kung Fu, won awards in collegiate fencing, and earned his Nidan (secodn degree black belt) in Judo at Berkeley. During this period, he began to specialize in the more internal arts of T'ai Chi Ch'uan, Hsing I, Pa Kua, and Aikido. Over the years since, he has enlarged his study to include Muay Thai (Thai boxing), Tea ceremony, Western Boxing, and japanese and Chinese Fencing.

In 1978 he won first place in the the World Championship Full-contact Martial Arts Tournament in the Republic of Cina, the first non-Asian to do so. He has continued to study a wide variety of forms, including internal contemplative disciples. he presently teaches Cheng Hsin T'ui Shou, his own blend fo energetic techniques, nationally and at his school in Oakland.

Shipping Cheng Hsin

We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Evri - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
Fedex Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
  • Europe: 2-3 working days
  • USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
  • All other destinations: 4-7 working days.
