'Inside the Cover' of Know Karate-Do

In the past fifteen years there has been an extraordinary growth of interest in Karate.
A real understanding of the nature of the sport has, however, been hampered by press sensationalism and the multiplicity of styles and associa-tions, each of which tends to stress its own significance and play down that of its rivals. Here, for the first time, the different styles arecompared objectively, and advice given to potential Karateka as to how to join a club most suited to the individual's requirements.

The author has trained in the East and has been both Chairman and Secretary of the British Karate Control Commission as well as Treasurer to the European Karate Union. He is thus well qualified to write this book which was prepared in consultation with the BKCC's six senior Technical Advisors, both Japanese and British.

Between them these instructors helped raise the standard of British Karate and inter-style co-operation to the highest levels in the world.
A concise description of the basic techniques including stance, movement, breathing, punching, striking, kicking and blocking is given with pictorial illustrations and diagrams, along with sections on Kata, body conditioning and wood breaking. A clear distinction is drawn between the competitive and self defence aspects of Karate and an indication given as to the different competitive rules used by the individual associations.

A senior surgeon, acting as doctor to the British team, has also contributed an unique appendix on the prevention and treatment of Karate injuries.
The book contains the fullest account yet published of the history of Karate and of the influence of Samurai attitudes and Zen Buddhism.

We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Evri - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
Fedex Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
  • Europe: 2-3 working days
  • USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
  • All other destinations: 4-7 working days.
