ABOUT THE BOOK

Tai Chi means "The Supreme Ultimate." Tai Chi Ch'uan is one of the ancient Chinese martial arts, whose origins are lost in time. It is a dynamic aid to health and inner tranquility by releasing the natural energy of the body through a series of controlled movements for self-defence and the development of  physical and mental powers.

Chee Soo has written a complete, fully-illustrated guide to the practice and the significance of Tai Chi. It includes an introduction to the little known practice of Tai Chi sword and dance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Chee Soo was born in 1919. Orphaned at eight, he grew up in a Dr Barnardo Home. During the War, he fought in France, North Africa and Burma, where he was captured by the Japanese. He escaped and, after 30 days in the rough with a Ghurka friend, made contact with an American guerrilla patrol.

Immediately after the War, he began teaching the Chinese Arts and founded the Chinese Cultural Arts Association to train instructors and organize Teaching programmes. He  has been president of the Association  since 1958, which with the International Wu Shu Association, now spans the world. He runs a Chinese Health and Herbal Clinic in London.
