The Mu Lan Chuan Exercise Description

Mu Lan Chuan is a form of Tai Chi and Chi Kung, whose graceful movements are inspired by a 5th-century narrative poem, "The Song of Mu Lan", that tells of a young girl's devotion to her father. Author Sheng Keng Yun has practised Mu Lan Chuan since a young age, and here she illustrates and explains every movement. Most use the whole body and stimulate important acupuncture points. It is especially good for lower back pain, digestive and intestinal problems, and reproductive health.

'On the back' of The Mu Lan Chuan Exercise

Mulan Chuan is a form of Tai Chi and Chi Kung that can provide good health and increased energy. The movements are inspired from the well-known legend of Hua Mu Lan, made popular in the Southern and Northern Dynasty (420-589 A.D.) narrative poem, "The Song of Mu Lan." It is the story of a young girl's ceaseless devotion to her father, a Chinese general, who shared with his daughter the skills he learned throughout his long military career. When the Emperor ordered Mu Lan's father into battle near Mongolia, he was too sick and weak to fight, but too proud to refuse. To spare her father, Mu Lan nobly disguised herself as a man and enlisted with the army in his place. Her extraordinary skill as a warrior and tremendous courage in battle soon won her great distinction. After the war, Mu Lan returned home a heroine and became a celebrated legend.

Sheng Keng Yun has compiled the eight techniques of Mu Lan Chuan according to her favorite childhood story. Since she was a young girl, Sheng has practiced these movements and perfected their extraordinary grace and beauty. Sheng explains the immediate health benefits of Mu Lan Chuan and illustrates how each movement is done. These techniques rejuvenate the entire body, and can be practiced by any person of any age. The movements are easy to do, involving simple breathing methods and dance-like maneuvers that promote greater flexibility and remedy motor impairment. Because Mu Lan Chuan stimulates important acupuncture points, it is helpful for back pain, digestive and intestinal afflictions, and reproductive health. Practice these movements to enhance your overall health.
