'On the Back' of Funakoshi's Footsteps

Joseph Cheng made his name during the Bruce Lee boom, when Wing Chun leaped into prominence as the superstar's first serious martial art.

The diminutive, bright eyed figure of Joseph was one of the first to move away from the traditional Chinese 'ban' on teaching foreigners. Plenty of big names in the martial arts world, including household names of the Japanese Karate echelons, sought him out and were thankful to gain some knowledge of Wing Chun.

In this book Joseph Cheng reveals basic and advanced techniques of the art of Wing Chun. This includes a complete sequence of photographs showing the Wooden man training sequence.

But the main body of the work shows methods of suing Wing Chun techniques for self defence. Wing Chun prides itself on being direct, practical and effective. The straight line attack and avoiding methods lend themselves to a simple approach, and through it would be wrong to say that the style is easy, it is an approach which can be used by relative beginners much earlier in their martial arts career than some of the more circular and flowing styles.

The book can be recommended for all students of martial arts who wish to widen their technical view.

Shipping Funakoshi's Footsteps

We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Evri - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
Fedex Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
  • Europe: 2-3 working days
  • USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
  • All other destinations: 4-7 working days.
