Made famous around the world in films such as Drunken Master and Kung Fu Hustle, Kung Fu Iron Rings are making a come back in the training of Kung Fu Practitioners. Mostly used Southern Kung Fu Styles such as Hung Gar Kung Fu also called Hung Kuen Kung Fu, Southern Praying Mantis, Mok Gar, but originally from the Shaolin Temple Kung Fu Style in Henan Province
Whether you practice these styles or not, anyone can benefit from using these. You wear them on your wrists and over time build up the numbers of Kung Fu Iron Rings on each arm. This builds up strength and gets you used to training under resistance and weight. Practicing your forms and drills helps build up arm strength, develop your movement and footwork and relaxation. Easier said than done.
The weight really makes you work and some also used them as a way of keeping a tight fist when punching. They fire down your arm and crash into you fist. Made from solid steel and sold in singles, this will be the best and most traditional workout you’ve had in ages. They also help with arm conditioning, the sliding rings helps condition the bone and toughen up the skin.
“If you are new to the Iron Rings and want to train fast, do so with care. You can extend the joints and it takes some time to get used to the extra weight.”
