Dynamic Aikido Description
This introduction to aikido aims to train the reader to sense their opponent's intentions and turn his movements to your own advantage.
About the Author:
GOZO SHIODA, born in Tokyo in 1915, became the outstanding student of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of modern aikido. Holder of the ninth rank black belt, he founded the Yoshinkan school of aikido, of which he is chief instructor. He is also chief instructor for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, the Air Self defense Force, the Japanese National Railways, Sophia University, Meiji Gakuin University and Takushoku University, his alma mater.
Preface of Dynamic Aikido
The object of this book is to provide an introduction to aikido which can be used as a text book by beginners. The techniques described have been selected from those used in everyday practice at the Tokyo Yoshinkan, and they include the essential basic movements.
Every effort has been made to present a simple classification of the techniques and to describe them in straightforward, easily understandable terms. However, as with all the Japanese martial arts, there are many points in aikido which cannot be adequately explained with words and photographs; so while this book can never satisfactorily replace a qualified teacher, it is hoped that it will provide a useful supplement to personal instruction.
I should like to express my appreciation to Seishi Terada, Takashi Kushida, Kyoichi Inoue, to all the instructors at the Yöshin-kan who appear in the photographs as my opponents, and to those students who also gave their time and energy. I am also indebted to my seniors and the directors of the Yöshinkan for their help and advice in the planning of this book. Lastly, I should like to thank Geoffrey Hamilton for writing the English translation of this book and for compiling the section on practical application.
Shipping Dynamic Aikido
We have a few different options for posting your items at Enso Martial Arts Shop. Prices vary depending on the overall order, weight, size etc. The checkout page will automatically workout the possible options for you.
We can send your item(s) in the following ways:
Courier Tracked - Order before 1pm, we can pack and post the same day to be with you the next working day, this is not a weekend service. It is fully tracked and we will send you the tracking number when we process your order.
Evri - In our experience an extremely slow service, we cannot guarantee it will arrive. It isn't an option on the website for good reason, so if you want this pitiful service and your parcel thrown into a random hedge near your house, if you're lucky, just to save about £2 then simply call us on 0117 942 5832 and we can process your order over the phone.
Fedex Worldwide - For anywhere outside the UK, we can post the same day but delivery times are dependent on the destination. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
Europe: 2-3 working days
USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand: 3-4 working days
All other destinations: 4-7 working days.
